Trips in 2015: Scandinavia Part 4/4.

The morning after we left Oslo we arrived in Fredrikshavn in northern Denmark. After grabbing some breakfast we drove north to the city of Skagen. On the way there we stopped by the Tilsandede Kirke. Our next stop was Grenen, the sandbar where the Skagerrak and Kattegat seas meet. It's really special because you can actually see the waves from the two seas crash into each other. It's no wonder that swimming there is forbidden for safety reasons. Grenen is actually north of Skagen, but we decided to start there before it got too crowded with tourists and it turned out to be a good decision because the parking lots had really started to fill up by the time we were ready to leave and head down to Skagen. The weather was far from perfect with its overcast skies and occasional showers, but at the same time it was good because that combined with the early hour made Skagen a bit less crowded than I imagine it would have been otherwise. I immediatelly fell in love with Skagen - it's such a cute little town with all its yellow houses and red roofs. We climbed up the old water tower despite the rain and were rewarded with a great view over the town. Before leaving we had lunch in the harbour (seafood of course). On the way south we stopped by the sand dunes of Råbjerg Mile. In the late afternoon we arrived in Aalborg were we'd be spending the final night of our vacation. The weather had turned more pleasant by then and we were able to explore the downtown area of the city in the evening sunshine. We even had dinner outside. The next day we headed to Grenaa where we caught the ferry over to Varberg, and after a long cross-country drive in sometimes very heavy rain we found ourselves back home in Kalmar again. All in all I'm so pleased with how this trip turned out, and how much we got to see during our week on the road.
